How children live on Mallorca
Every year, winter on Mallorca reveals a silent need that remains hidden to many: Children are freezing on our island. In families that already lack the most basic necessities – food, warm clothing, baby milk and diapers – the cold becomes an unbearable burden.
Xenia took the following pictures at one of the distribution events. We want to show you the unvarnished and genuine living conditions of many families here. Unimaginable, isn’t it? But a bitter reality.
Si Mallorca, founded by Anja, has been looking after these people for many years. Voluntarily, tirelessly and with a commitment that goes far beyond what one might expect. Every day, she works to ensure that donations from the community – baby food, diapers, hygiene articles, clothing – get to where they are really needed: directly to the families. Without detours, without bureaucracy.
We have been supporting Si Mallorca for around two years with a fixed monthly payment. And in view of the need, which should be unimaginable on this island “of the rich and beautiful”, we transferred an additional 5,000 euros in aid to Si Mallorca last week. The overall willingness to donate has waned. But there are no fewer people who need it.
