Who are Educaclowns?

Educaclowns Mallorca is a non-profit organization which was founded by qualified artists in Mallorca at the end of 2015. Its aim is to use the performing arts, especially the art of clowning, therapeutically to improve the quality of life of children, young people and marginalized groups and to promote their social integration.

What do they do?

Educaclowns Mallorca works with children in reception centers Young people older people and people with cerebral palsy and internationally. They offer socio-educational programs Workshops and performances. One example is the “Sonrisas Ganadoras” project with the Fundació Miquel Jaume-Palma Futsal, which uses clowning and sport to support children in care centers. They also receive support for their projects from the Consell de Mallorca.

Why clowns?

Educaclowns Mallorca relies on the art of clowning because it is an effective tool to convey values and motivate. Through play and other elements of social clowning, they can educate and raise awareness of important issues. In their work with children in reception centers, for example, they motivate and encourage the expression of emotions through clowning and their methods. They are convinced that all children have a right to a smile. When working with young people, the focus is also on motivation. For older people in retirement homes, her motto is: “Laughter knows no age”. Even in international cooperation, they see laughter as a basic human right that everyone should have access to. And they also recognize the inestimable value of a smile for people with cerebral palsy. Humor and laughter can break down barriers and create a positive connection with the people they work with.

Impact and cooperation

The work of Educaclowns Mallorca has demonstrably positive effects. In reception centers for children, they motivate the children and help them to express their emotions. Social workers and educators report very satisfactory experiences and observe positive therapeutic and educational effects in the children and even in the team of caregivers. A psychologist at a child care facility points out that humor, laughter, music, and even unconventional actions have brought magic, joy, and memories, sometimes providing the only connection to children with severe emotional injuries. One young person describes how her encounter with Educaclowns Mallorca made her the happiest person in the world and how the experience changed her life for the better.

Educaclowns Mallorca works with a variety of organizations, including the Consell de Mallorca the Hospital de Son Espases , the Geriátrico del IMAS and ProyectoHombre. These collaborations enable them to reach a broad spectrum of people in different areas of life.

What do we do differently?

We would like to "extend help". Therefore, we primarily address voluntary, mostly smaller organizations that provide assistance on the ground. And which we can support with our resources.

We place particular emphasis on the efficiency of the aid measures and their sustainability. We want to ensure our donors that your help will be received in full. And not used for administrative tasks or salaries. We understand that large organizations cannot fulfill all activities on a voluntary basis, but we have set ourselves the goal of being able to ensure the highest possible efficiency of the capital invested. In the same way, it is important for us to be a strong project partner. And work very closely with the organizations we support. Also so that we have complete transparency about the use of funds.

Our mission

Inequality in the world is increasing more and more. At the same time, there are many dedicated small organizations that are tackling things in their neighborhoods or on a larger scale. And help. We would like to support them so that they can help even better.
